CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES IN PRIMARY EDUCATIONAbstract
Co-curricular activities play a strategic role in strengthening learning by providing contextual and meaningful learning experiences. This article aims to analyze the dynamics of co-curricular activities at the elementary school level in enhancing literacy, numeracy, and social adaptation through the implementation of authentic projects. The study employed a qualitative approach using a literature review design. Data were collected from scholarly journal articles, books, policy documents, and other relevant publications, and were analyzed using content analysis techniques involving data reduction, data presentation, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that project-based co-curricular activities effectively integrate the development of academic and social competencies. Literacy skills are fostered through reading, writing, observation, and presentation activities, while numeracy is strengthened through measurement, data analysis, and contextual problem-solving. Social adaptation is enhanced through collaboration, communication, leadership, and shared responsibility in completing group projects. Although the implementation of co-curricular activities continues to face challenges, including limited facilities, insufficient teacher competencies, and diverse student characteristics, their effectiveness can be optimized through systematic planning, stakeholder collaboration, the utilization of the surrounding environment as a learning resource, and the integration of digital technologies. These findings highlight that authentic project-based co-curricular activities contribute significantly to the realization of holistic learning, supporting the development of twenty-first-century competencies and the sustainable strengthening of students' character.
